(Formerly known as Dundee Church of God)
Ridge Community Church had its beginnings in the early part of 1966. Rev. John L. Livingston, organizer and first pastor, began to feel a burden for a Church of God in Dundee. He began to hold prayer meetings in the old Community House and on June 19, 1966 organized the church with 13 members. Under Bro. Livingston's leadership, the present property on State Road 542 E., ¼ mile east of U.S. 27, was purchased. The property was once inhabited by a bar room but God had greater plans for this property.
During Bro. Livingston's ministry in Dundee the first building was built and dedicated on May 11, 1969. After four successful years of pastoral ministry, while on his way to the General Assembly, Bro. Livingston went to be with the Lord, through an auto accident on August 24, 1970.
Following Bro. Livingston as pastor was Rev. Tommy Dorman. After Bro. Dorman, Rev. E.M. Beard served as pastor until 1972.
Rev. W.F. Thompson was the next pastor called to Dundee Church of God. Under the leadership of Bro. W. F. Thompson the church experienced tremendous growth and expansion. The beginning church building was expanded by adding new offices, classrooms, nursery and foyer. Also during Bro. W. F. Thompson's pastorate, property was purchased and a new parsonage was built.
Following Bro. W. F. Thompson was Rev. Gary A. Bickford in 1976. Bro. Bickford was pastor from 1976 to 1979. In July of 1979, Rev. Allen Smith came to pastor in Dundee. Brother Smith ministered until July of 1982. Bro. Smith has retired and still lives in the area today. Then Rev. Carlton Anderson came to pastor. Bro. Anderson's tenure was from July 1982 until 1986. Following Bro. Anderson was Rev. Kent Rogers.
Under the leadership of Bro. Rogers, the church experienced the first name change. The name of the church was changed to "New Horizons Church of God". Also the original sanctuary was remodeled under Bro. Rogers' leadership.
In 1990, Bro. Rogers left and Rev. Kirby H. Thompson came to New Horizon to pastor.
During Bro. Thompson ministry at Dundee, the name of the church was changed back to "Dundee Church of God". The Parsonage was remodeled and additional property was purchased along beside the present church to build a new sanctuary.
In 1992, Rev. Steven D. Thompson, son of Kirby Thompson, came to join the staff at Dundee Church of God as minister of music. In October 1997, after 50 plus years of ministerial service Rev. Kirby Thompson retired and Bro. Steve Thompson took over as pastor of Dundee Church of God and is the current pastor to date.
Under the leadership of Rev. Steven D. Thompson, the name of the church was changed to "Ridge Community Church of God" in September 2001. In May of 2001, a new sanctuary, offices, nursery, bathrooms, and choir room was built. The new building was dedicated on April 28, 2002. It is now known as Ridge Community Church.
